What Customers Say About The Very Best of Robert Palmer:

There are only a few filler tracks and the cd has a spot in my rotation from now on. Wow for a few years Palmer ruled the radio dial with hit after hit, whether it be as a solo artist or as a member of Power Station. All of the requisite hits from each incarnation of Robert Palmer are here, and in contrast to other reviewers, I couldn't find anything wrong with the new remasters, although the "addicted to love '97" is pointless and skip material. I'd give it 5 stars, but I usually only save that for an album with fewer than 3 or 4 "skippable" tracks. Robert Palmer will be missed, and his songs always take me back.

I guess the lesson here, as with most if not all 'best ofs', is that the best (for each listener) can only be found by listening to individual albums. Perhaps I am only an intermittent Palmer fan: when I like his stuff, I think it's great; when I don't, it just leaves me puzzled. Don't know why the almost bizarrely unmusical "You Are In My System" is included but the catchy, simply enjoyable "You Can Have It (Take My Heart)" is not. For instance, I don't think there's a 'best of' for The Doors that contains 'Soul Kitchen', but in my opinion it's one of their most engaging songs. I'll continue searching Palmer's albums for those gems that didn't make it to this or any other compilation.

I am truly glad I got to see him. It is a travesty to Robert's memory.I saw him twice at the San Diego State Amphitheater, where he put on fantastic shows.

All of the tracks appear to have been so heavily remixed and badly remastered that they are hardly even recognizable. If you are a Robert Palmer purist, and want to remember him as he originally sounded, avoid this release at all costs.

If I had the money and the time I would sue the company that released this. There is no package labeling what so ever to indicate that they are remixes, but yet that is exactly what they are (as others here have noted).

I wouldn't be surprised if it was all an effort to avoid some sort of copyright issue, in order to release these all together. I wasn't that into his entire catalog, but I went back the second time simply because he was such a great live performer.

I'll be looking for the original releases now, which I had previously on cassette, and this one is either going back, or into the trash.

There are some good ones on here to be sure.but where is "Sneaking Sally Through The Alley". Probably Palmer's most rockin' radio play song. A bad oversight from the people who compiled this.

I bought this CD for Robert Palmer's cover of Marvin Gaye songs, MERCY MERCY ME/I WANT YOU. If you're a Robert Palmer fan, this is the truly The Very Best of Robert Palmer. Wow. What a great job. A full review of his genius. Worth every penny.
